Detection and significance of glial fibrillary acidic protein antibody in autoimmune astocytopathy and related diseases

چکیده

: Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP-A) is an antibody-related astrocytic disease for which a specific GFAP antibody serves as biological marker. Indeed, cerebral spinal fluid positive and/or seropositivity important basis its diagnosis. However, because patients with autoimmune encephalitis or demyelinating diseases can have similar profile, termed overlapping syndrome, it remains challenge clinicians to diagnose and suitably classify GFAP-A. To further understand the significance of detection in neuroimmune diseases, this article discusses antibodies GFAP-A, progress antibodies, diagnostic prototypical disease, well syndrome.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein and related glial proteins as biomarkers of neurotoxicity.

A variety of '-omic' technologies are being increasingly applied in preclinical safety assessments. Such approaches, however, have not been implemented in neurotoxicity safety evaluations. Current regulatory guidelines for assessing neurotoxicity emphasise reliance on traditional histopathological stains and behavioural testing batteries. Although these methods may be sufficient to detect some ...

Modelling and Characterization of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) is an intermediate-filament (IF) protein that maintains the astrocytes of the Central Nervous System in Human. This is differentially expressed during serological studies in inflamed condition such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Therefore, it is of interest to glean molecular insight using a model of GFAP (49.88 kDa) due to its crystallographic nonavailabil...

Glial fibrillary acidic protein immunoglobulin G as biomarker of autoimmune astrocytopathy: Analysis of 102 patients.

OBJECTIVE A novel autoimmune central nervous system (CNS) disorder with glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)-IgG as biomarker was recently characterized. Here, 102 patients with GFAP-IgG positivity are described. METHODS The 102 included patients had: (1) serum, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), or both that yielded a characteristic astrocytic pattern of mouse tissue immunostaining; (2) confirmati...

Glial fibrillary acidic protein is localized in the lens epithelium

The epithelium of the mouse lens stains intensely with antisera to glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). A protein co-migrating with GFAP and immunoreactive with antisera to GFAP can be demonstrated in lens epithelium protein extracts by immunoblots. GFAP has previously been considered unique to cells of neural origin, but this study demonstrates that ectodermally derived cells express GFAP o...

Glial fibrillary acidic protein and its mRNA: ultrastructural detection and determination of changes after CNS injury.

We have previously demonstrated that glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) containing intermediate filaments in retinal Müller cells undergo both quantitative induction and subcellular reorganization as a response to long-term retinal detachment (an induced CNS degeneration wherein the Müller cells form a multicellular scar). This study demonstrates by RNA blotting analysis that normal retina ...
